Building Strong Futures: Family Resilience

Funded by Texas Health Resources Community Impact Grant

Learn more at: www.BuildingStrongFutures.com

Building Strong Futures is a family-centered violence prevention program that helps caregivers strengthen relationships, build resilience, and navigate challenges related to health, finances, and parenting. The program serves families with school-age children in the 75407 zip code (Princeton) and offers a 6-week interactive workshop series, followed by monthly enrichment sessions and adult peer support groups to reinforce learning and connection over time.

Core Components:

  • Resilience & Connection: Tools for managing stress, improving communication, and strengthening family bonds

  • Health & Financial Literacy: Practical strategies for navigating healthcare, budgeting, and accessing local services

  • Ongoing Support: Peer support groups and enrichment sessions help build community and sustain progress

  • Local Resource Access: Weekly food distributions provided through our partner, Community Lifeline Center.

In collaboration with Community Lifeline Center and Destiny’s Leaders, Building Strong Futures offers wraparound support for families and youth in Princeton.

New cohorts launch throughout the year, with Spanish-language sessions planned.
Stronger families. Less stress. More support.

Building Strong Futures: Youth Leadership & Equity

Funded by the CDC’s Rape Prevention and Education (RPE) Program

The Turning Point’s RPE Program uses the Close to Home model to prevent sexual violence by equipping communities—especially youth and local leaders—to drive meaningful, sustainable change. Focused on youth ages 16–24 in East McKinney and Princeton, the program promotes gender equity, builds community leadership, and fosters trauma-informed environments through outreach, training, and youth-led initiatives.

Focus Areas:

  • Economic Supports: Creating paid internships, mentorships, and advocacy for pay equity in partnership with local businesses

  • Safer Environments: Supporting institutions in adopting trauma-informed care and bystander intervention strategies

  • Healthy Social Norms: Engaging youth in designing public education campaigns and leading conversations about gender, respect, and safety

Program Features:

  • Youth and Community Advisory Councils

  • Community-based workshops and peer-led trainings

  • Local campaigns co-designed with young people

This program is about empowering youth, shifting systems, and reducing violence before it starts.
